Environmental protection
GLS is committed to reducing the environmental impact of its transport operations. Since 2008, the GLS Group has coordinated environmental activities across all countries and monitors their results.
Climate Protect program
The Climate Protect programme focuses on reducing the environmental impact of parcel transport across the GLS Group. It includes process optimisation and the gradual transition of the vehicle fleet to electric and low-emission vehicles, where technically and operationally feasible.
Environmental measures are implemented at country level and coordinated by designated environmental specialists.

Buildings
For new building constructions and renovation sbuilds we use rainwater, photovoltaic technology, recyclable building materials and heat pumps plays a vital role.

Vehicles
All GLS vehicles are gradually being replaced by newer alternative fuel engines.

Transport planning
GLS uses state-of-the-art, IT-assisted planning instruments to improve operating processes and transport routes. Journey lengths are systematically minimised through optimised route planning.

Responsible use of sources
Resource management is carried out taking into account the lifetime of the materials and their possible reuse.
EcoVadis Certification
GLS Group received the EcoVadis Silver Medal in 2025 with a score of 71/100, placing us within the top 15% of companies assessed globally. EcoVadis evaluates sustainability performance across Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. The assessment is updated annually.
GLS also uses electric bikes to deliver parcels
The use of electric bikes allows GLS to move more easily on crowded city streets, deliver parcels to customers faster and thus increase delivery efficiency. For example, GLS delivers some parcels in the historical centre of Prague.
GLS put into operation the first large-capacity electricity delivery van
GLS has started to use the very first large electric delivery for the daily delivery of bales at the depot in Hulín, which will carry almost the same amount of bales as a normal delivery with an internal combustion engine, while it will travel up to 120 km on a single charge. In the next 12 months, the expansion of the fleet is planned.
Planting trees with "Sázíme stromy"
GLS cooperates with nonprofit organization "Sázíme stromy" on planting trees all over Czech Republic. Every year, GLS participates in the planting of over hundred of trees.
Tree planting with "Sdružení Krajina"
Between 2013 and 2018, GLS planted 469 trees with non profit organization "Sdružení Krajina".
GLS launched the Electric Truck Trailer
Investing in modern technologies, such as electric trucks, is key for us to reduce emissions while maintaining efficient operations. These vehicles deliver parcels across the Czech Republic and are also used for transport to Slovakia.
